Music teacher training has been taking place on the Szombathely University campus for decades, and a choir has operated as part of this program. Since 2017, ELTE has provided the framework for this training. Teacher training currently takes place at the institution under the name ELTE Savaria University Center, Dániel Berzsenyi Teacher Training Center.
The choir adopted its name in December 2017 during the Advent concert. With this name, they wish to emphasize that the choir is not exclusively for music majors and that they warmly welcome any student from the university to join their ranks.
The choir regularly performs at the institution’s events (Advent concerts, graduation ceremonies, etc.) and has also undertaken numerous international tours. Its membership fluctuates depending on the university’s student body, and in recent years, they have been delighted that even students who have graduated from the department return to sing with them because of the friendships and shared singing experiences.
