ACCOMPANYING EVENTS: EXHIBITION
EXHIBITION TITLE: ITER INTERNUM
AUTHOR: MICHAŁ BUGZEL
SITE: 10-29 May, 2026 , Collegium Minus, H. Wieniawskiego 1 Str.
This series of works arose from a need to explore the multidimensional nature of experiencing everyday reality. The idea grew out of a practice of mindfulness and reflection on one’s inner self. Everyone who physically experiences various situations on their “journey” is simultaneously undertaking an inner journey. Sometimes this is consistent with what is happening “outwardly”, but it is also the case that the “inner journey” and the “outer path” appear to have nothing in common. The inner self is the space where many decisions are made; within it, we reflect on the situations we encounter, seek solutions, ask questions, struggle, rejoice, despair and hide. The inner self is very important and forms an integral part of us, yet we so rarely look within, allowing things simply to happen. These works are part of a larger series exploring this inner journey, and every viewer is invited to discover their own “Iter internum”.
The series consists of a dozen or so narrative, monochrome drawings, presented in sequence. The compositions are based on several symbolic motifs:
-
-
- “The Eye” represents us, our inner vision,

- “Vector” is in other words, the direction in which we are heading,
- “Wild nature” are all the situations we encounter, the elements of life; the jungle, which, whilst beautiful and alluring, can also be extremely dangerous,
- “Transition” is the apparent conclusion, which ultimately becomes the next chapter of the journey,
- “Person/body” is the true end of our journey, an enigmatic resolution, meaning, mystery.
- “The Eye” represents us, our inner vision,
-
All motifs are captured in segmented compositions. These divisions are intended to represent inner mindfulness, which is not constant. Usually, we merely glance inside; we do not gaze for long.
The shifting nature of the drawings aims to emphasise the reality of this seemingly invisible inner world, whilst the decision to present the works in black and white is intended to invite the viewer to share in the experience, rather than impose emotionally charged, vibrant responses.
