The Dragan Shuplevski Choir of the Faculty of Music, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje plays a very important role in the music life of Macedonia. Apart from regular concerts the choir participates in joint projects with other ensembles of the Faculty of Music, with the Macedonian Philharmonic, the Macedonian Opera and in festivals such as May Opera Evenings, Interfest, Ohrid Summer Festival and others. The repertoire of the ensemble is rich and versatile, ranging from Renaissance to contemporary music. The ensemble performs both a capella and vocal-instrumental music. Most of the concerts of the choir have been recorded as an audio or video material for the Macedonian Radio Television.
Under the leadership of Prof. Sasho Tatarchevski, the Choir also established itself as a renowned ensemble on the international scene, winning the highest prizes at international choral competitions in Poland, Italy, Bulgaria and France. As a result, the choir is regularly invited to participate in many prestigious festivals and competitions every year.
Sasho Tatarchevski earned his Master`s degree in choral, symphonic and opera conducting at the Faculty of Music in Skopje. He also attended conducting masterclasses in Rome, New York, Berlin, Florence, Sarteano and Moscow.
He has performed with the Bitola Chamber Orchestra, the Macedonian Philharmonic, the Orchestra of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet, Orchestra Sinfonica di ICE – Rome, the State Hermitage Symphony Orchestra - St.Petersburg, the Bitola Opera, the modern music ensembles “Alea” and “ConTempora”, the Symphony Orchestra of the Faculty of Music , “The Soloists of the Faculty of Music ” group, the Symphony Orchestra of the Bitola Summer Festival and many other choral, chamber and symphonic ensembles.
Besides Macedonia he has performed numerous concerts and won international prizes with various ensembles in Portugal, Slovenia, Scotland, Belgium, Greece, Switzerland, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Serbia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Russia, Austria, France and Turkey. At the moment he works as a professor at the Faculty of Music in Skopje and conductor of the Dragan Shuplevski Mixed Choir, the Female Choir at the Youth Center and “Pro Ars” professional chamber choir. Also, he is a regular jury member in several international competitions and head of the International Choral Forum in Struga.
