The Bacewicz Percussion Ensemble – a percussion ensemble composed of students from the Department of Percussion of the Academy of Music in Lodz is conducted by Piotr Sutt. The group’s repertoire includes ethnic percussion music from Asia, Africa, Latin America, traditional American march music, percussion classics of the 20th and 21st centuries, transcriptions of literature of past epochs, as well as new music created especially for the group. The colorful and varied sound of The Bacewicz Percussion Ensemble is determined by an unusually rich instrumentarium - from orchestral percussion instruments, through classical solo instruments, marching bands, ethnic and avant-garde instruments, to electronic instruments. At the concerts of the group there is also spatial music, visualization, light projections and interaction with the audience. The ensemble has worked and toured with the greatest names in the world of percussion art, among them Emmanuel Séjourné (France), John Wooton (USA), Javier Nandayap (Mexico), Kai Stensgaard (Sweden), Ignacio Ceballos Maritina (Spain), Anders Åstrand (Sweden), Francesca and Claudio Santangelo (Italy) and Bismarck Fernandez (Costa Rica). Their passion, commitment, joy of making music, stage presence, imagination and virtuosity create a unique image - a synthesis of youth, vitality and timelessness - the most beautiful art of percussion.
